  Thinking of writing a book about jw's, what should I put in it?

  i've just finished reading alan miller's "fade from the truth", i enjoyed it and i love that it's freely available.

  so i was thinking of writing a book of my own.

  not an account of my life but more a simple step by step look at jw's and what they are really like?

  This is what would be good:

  • Include the true history of the religion from it's beginnings to what it is now in an unbiased way.
  • Biblical understanding which drives their policies, even if we do not agree with some, but the 'why' per their interpretation of the text.
  • Include inconsistencies as well with the biblical accounts, such as why the baptism of minors is okay when the leader Christ set a different example and instructions.
  • Ways in which the faith could be improved, such as in the protection to minors/women in their midst but also the ones outside by reporting crimes to the legal authorities.
  • Real life examples of people/families/communities that have improved because of putting into practice what they learned in the faith. Truths of how our way of life benefits us and others when followed appropriately.
  • The good, the bad, the ugly, black/white/gray. Put on a journalistic hat and do a tell all in an unbiased way.

  When done, I'll gladly read and provide comments. Keep us posted!

  Nothing new. Biblical accounts show many, many, many in the past who lost their life because of their faith.

  Hey, how many lose their lives because of their nationalistic interests or innocently (civilians) due to acts of war or other preventable stuff?

  Jesus did say that his followers could not be 'cowards'. Being a true JW is not for the faint of heart.

  I think they would've lost the lawsuit. If there's been a history of bleeding, as the article states, the woman should've known the increased risk she put herself in.

  This is the clear reason why JWs avoid extreme sports or situations which would put them in greater danger of losing their lives. Pay attention to all risks and make the best informed decision, then accept the consequences.

  Well, in alignment with the JW beliefs...... there will be a resurrection.

  Are Witnesses really "Bible Students"?

  we were always told that as witnesses we were "sincere bible students".... carefully examining the scriptures.. yes, we were indeed taught much about the content of the bible, it's history, prophecies etc..... but it was always from one perspective....that of the society.

  when the society changed its interpretations, we had to do the same..... so were we really "bible students", or "society students"?.

  JWs are a 'community' of religious folks who try to live life according to the latest biblical understanding as interpreted by these NY men in-charge (GB).

  Imperfect system, just like the imperfect humans who designed it and run it. However, very, very, very nice individuals in an idealistic way of life.

  'Hating' of JWs as a whole not justified by the doings of a crummy few.

  UN Library again... The "NGO Resource Center"

  as we know, there were at least 2 ways to enter the un ngo bldg : 'ground pass' and 'library pass'.

  and the 'ground pass' matters was dealt by many posts in old times.

  basically, the policy of 'library pass' had not been chaged before 9.11 as we read.. however, some pro-jws have been insisting that it was not the un ngo bldg.

  Among other reasons, the WTBTS needed to become an NGO with the UN in order to bring their message and get established abroad with a sort of 'protection'; the end definitely justified the means in this case.

  It can be rationalized with the biblical passage which states that Christians can use 'the world' in order to advance the preaching of the word everywhere, or to use "unjust riches" for the work of the Lord, being "cunning as snakes but innocent like doves", or some such quotes found in the NT.

  This goes on with many a Company/Corporation/Religious Org/etc. originating in the USA and wanting to gain acceptance abroad. Common practice, really.

  Well now... I sure woke up with the JW personality prevalent today. Call it whatever, it's call "survival". Get over it already.

  a spouse that is fully brain doogled in and you are awake to ttatt.. without going into serious detail and no names are given.

  i would like to possible talk with one of you all, it's just so helpful to communicate with someone in the same situation as me.. i am located in the southwest united states..

  Hi,

  Hubby, parents, immediate relatives, extended relatives, the vast majority are all hardcore JWs; it's a quite difficult to maneuver once fully awake as I am. However, it's all I know, sooooo..... a bit difficult my position.

  We are the 'rank and file', the 'commoners' of this ever evolving religious movement. Although many in my immediate and extended family are 'royalty', which makes me a not so common 'commoner'.

  Where and What. . . IS THE EVIDENCE for "Mental ILLNESS"? ? ?

  i have no interest whatsoever in stirring up controversy.. in fact, i find clashes of opinion to be debilitatingly negative.. so, i'd simply like to request that we narrow this discussion to evidence.. please watch this video which is tantalizingly titled :.

  "there's no such thing as mental illness".. consider this data and listen to the presentation of cause vs. effects and give me your analysis and any evidence for conclusions you may draw.

  we all have anecdotal tendencies, but i should remind you, anecdotal testimony isn't evidence, only opinion.________________________________________.

  In my heavily indoctrinated from birth JW opinion...

  Mental illness is with the poor individual that is born a certain gender, but his/her ill mind is telling them they belong as a member of the opposite gender. Bruce Jenner is mentally ill.

  A type of mental illness is with the female/male individual that feels sexual/love attraction with a person of the same sex.

  Mental illness is with a tormented person that continuously tattoos/pierces/deforms themselves in some way, and of course, always with some sort of excuse/justification.

  Mental illness is with the person that feels sad for no reason at all; all is well in their life, in a moment, and this subject is really sad.

  Mental illness is with all involved in the Gothic movement. Sick looking for sure.

  Varying degrees of mental illness is with the KKK and similar racist/divisive movements.

  Mental illness exists in so many forms that is quite hard to find a well balanced individual.

  Some poets have said that there's a bit of 'crazy' in all of us.

  My 14-year-old niece is being disfellowshipped

  i was contacted by my ex sister-in-law yesterday.

  she asked me if i wanted to spend some time with my niece, while she went to her sister's baby shower.

  it turns out my niece can't go because she's about to be disfellowshipped at the ripe old age of 14. .

  This is the end of the vast majority of those who are baptized young. Now all will turn their back thus causing major psychological damage.

  As much as the WTBTS tries to decipher biblical facts, they sure have not understood that perhaps the reason why JC got baptized at such a mature age was to make absolutely sure he knew what he was getting into willfully.

  Then he proceeded to instruct in the Bible to follow on his footsteps. Does the WTBTS follow his example in this regard?! Of course not, they only care about their membership numbers.

  My heart aches for all our young disfellowshipped.

  Shame on the WTBTS and all parents who allow this to happen.😔

  i asked him what happened.

  he said "him and his wife lived a full theocratic life for jehovah.

  doing everything the organization and the traveling brothers told them to do, like work part time, regular pioneer, serve where the need is great.

  What I love, by the example of the Spanish congs where I attend, is that young people are really concentrated on their education and you can palpate that they do not give a hoot about the crap shown from the platform. No more victims of the WTBTS failed 'end times' prophecies.

  It's AWESOME!!!
